8-Minute Memoir

Day 141: 5th Grade

July 7, 2017

Day 141: 5th Grade. Write about 5th grade. Who was your teacher (Mrs. Busco)? Who was in your class (all these people)? What did you do at recess (four square, speed, jump rope, trying to do dead man’s drop and not succeeding)? What did you eat for lunch (not squeezits or fruit wrinkles or ding dogs or anything good, that’s for sure)? What did you learn about (the fractions, Georgia o’ Keefe, the year of the challenger tragedy)? What did you worry about (Hershey track meet, presidential fitness test, state fair, whether to get my ears pierced, fifth grade camp, deodorant)? What was happening in your family (many many sports events)? Try to remember even if it’s a blur. Sometimes just one memory or one concrete detail will spark other things. Also, the launch of my new middle grade book You May Already be a Winner is going to be Tuesday at the Provo Library at 7:00 pm. This is going to be a fun, family friendly night where you can win tuna fish and Dorito sandwiches. Please come! * if you know any circus tricks, let me know. **if you know anything about small rockets that can actually launch a book into space, let me know. If you aren’t in the area, I’ll be in SLC at a library in Rose Park on the 18th or you can buy the book in your area or online and launch your own copy into space. Anyway, 8 minutes, about 5th grade. #8minutememoir
