Today I listened to this podcast.
I loved it.
I love stories.
I love people talking and sharing and yes, even gossiping.
I love it because stories connect us. They open us up to each other. They allow us to be vulnerable.
Today, write about something you care about. Do you feel passionate about cinnamon rolls? Do you dream of paddle boarding on Provo River? Are you mad because Art City Drive-in, where you watched ET for the first time closed down? What is something you love that maybe no one else loves. They don’t get it.
Follow the rules:
- Write fast for ten minutes. Keep your pencil moving or your fingers typing. If you end up talking about your grandmother’s wallpaper or the time you got pantsed in fifth grade or the fact that your armpits are hairy and you don’t care except for when you accidentally find yourself in a bathing suit with thousands of people and your young son says, what’s that? That’s awesome. Just don’t stop writing.
- Don’t worry if what you’re writing is good.
Do this even if you don’t think you’re a writer. Do it to remember. Do it to relax. Do it to see what will happen.
If something cool does happen, let me know.
PS. I had a dream in the shower today that I started my own podcast where I interviewed people about their dead people. About those they loved that no one knows anymore.« Gorgie Porgie
